It’s a busy few weeks ahead of me, so for this week I’m forgoing original content and turning it over to you, my subscribers! I felt it was time to dig into my backlog of unanswered questions that are submitted to me every so often.
What is your real name? - John Hammerstein, Oakville, ON
It’s Cedric Richards. What kind of questions are these?
What kind of tunes do you enjoy when you’re on a roadtrip? - Brian O’Brien, Conception Bay South, NL
I love the Tragically Hip and Foo Fighters. It’s not really on full blast volume, because road safety takes precedence.
What was your favourite roadtrip? Angela Kogen, Bayfield, ON
Summer of 2022, when I drove along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, when I visited Hamilton, Prince Edward County, and Kingston. It was fun in the sun (other than the day it rained) and getting to experience The County was truly something to remember. I enjoyed meeting friends along the way too. The hostel in PEC that I stayed at was one of my favourite accommodations; it is the cheapest by a country mile.
Why don’t you take the train for some of your adventures? Jamie Reintjes, Bradford, ON
It’s unfortunately cost-prohibitive against taking a bus, or even driving. And there’s unfortunately lots of places in Canada that the train doesn’t touch. But that doesn’t mean you should settle for less or not demand better.
What’s your favourite tourist experience? - Keiji Nakazawa, Ottawa, ON
I can’t possibly pick one out of so many, but if I had to, I’d say walking three steps out of the hostel I was staying in Montreal and stumbling into Jardins Gamelin. It was the most fun I’ve had in a public space, and you should check it out if you go to Montreal next summer!
What was your favourite small town to visit? - Ruby Devi, Oshawa, ON
Maynooth definitely takes the cake for this one. Despite the smell of the hostel, I really enjoyed the people, the shops, and the cool air that permeated through the Main Street, Highway 62. I would love to return one day to visit.
What was your favourite city you’ve been in? - Rob Carter, Sioux Lookout, ON
Definitely Montreal. There’s always something to do, and I’m still kicking myself for spending only two nights in such a great city I had so much fun in. Next time, I’ll spend more time.
Any travelling tips? - Greg Kennedy, Hull, QC
Buy food and get gas! I learned the hard way on Wolfe Island when I took a long shower and by the time I got out, the restaurant below the hotel I was staying at was closed. Along with all other restaurants.
